UAC applications are in as students plan ahead for 2027
TENS of thousands of Year 12 students have taken a step toward their futures by applying for university ahead of final exams starting next week, the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) has announced.
More than 52,100 Year 12 students applied by UAC’s early closing date on 30 September. Over 19,300 non-Year 12s have also applied, with applications up 4.1 per cent overall compared to the same time last year. Applications for semester 1, 2027 remain open until 5 February 2027.
Many students have also broadened their options by applying both through UAC and directly to universities.
Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer Kim Paino said that these applications are just the start of the process for aspiring university students.
‘It's great to see this level of interest in university study, but there are several milestones to come as results are released, students lock in their course choices, universities make their offers and finally students enrol next year,’ Ms Paino said.
