UAC showcases sustainability initiatives to local MP

21 Feb 2025

Sally Sitou, the Federal Member for Reid, visited the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) today to learn about its business sustainability efforts.

During the visit, Ms Sitou toured UAC’s award-winning offices. She met with Interim Managing Director Kim Paino, members of UAC’s Green Team and staff.

The visit followed UAC’s receipt of a government Energy Efficiency Grant to upgrade its lighting to energy-efficient LEDs. Ms Sitou was able to see the results of the upgrade firsthand and hear about UAC’s strategies for reducing its environmental impact.

Other topics of interest, given Ms Sitou’s strong background in education, were UAC’s role in the higher education sector through the calculation of the ATAR and in supporting access to university for all students.

Ms Paino said, ‘UAC was very pleased to welcome Ms Sitou and thanks her for supporting our commitment to sustainability. Whether it’s through energy efficiency initiatives like this, reducing waste or promoting personal wellbeing, every business and every one of us can do something to benefit our communities and make a positive difference to the environment.’

Ms Sitou said, ‘I am delighted to see UAC taking advantage of this grant to become energy efficient and improve their sustainability. I would encourage more local organisations to apply for grants that will reduce operational energy use and save money’.

The visit concluded with morning tea.
