Top 10 most in-demand courses for 2023

THE majority of Year 12 students have received their offers to uni and the stats are in for the most popular courses for 2023. This year sees the dominance of health courses wane with a shift to business and commerce and the appearance of science in the top 10 list.

Information released today by the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) shows that the combined Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine course at UNSW Sydney is once again at the top of the list with 1,645 first preferences. Bachelor of Business at the University of Technology Sydney has jumped a spot from last year to be the second most preferred course for 2023 with 877 first preferences. The Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine joint medical program at University of Newcastle and University of New England was next with 852.

The Doctor of Medicine joint program at Western Sydney University/Charles Sturt University and the Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Technology Sydney once again make the top 10.

The University of Sydney’s Bachelor of Commerce and UNSW Sydney’s Double Commerce degrees remain popular and the University of Sydney’s Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws once again make an appearance. UNSW’s Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), a new entrant, rounds out the list.

With the start of first semester fast approaching, universities will use the final offer rounds to make offers to courses that still have vacancies.
