Joint national statement on interstate university entry for 2021 Year 12 students
THE disruption caused to 2021 Year 12 students by COVID-19 has led those who are applying to interstate universities to question whether they will be disadvantaged due to delays in release of their results.
The Australasian Conference of Tertiary Admissions Centres (ACTAC), comprising admissions centres across Australia, has released the following information to help dispel any confusion for those students and their parents:
- The admission centre in each state/territory is aware of and has advised universities in that state/territory of the various dates by which Year 12 results across Australia will be available.
- Universities in each state/territory plan the timing and volume of the offers they make depending on the availability of results.
- Offers to interstate universities can and will still be made to students whose results have been delayed.
- The table below provides a snapshot of the dates applicable in each state/territory.
- It is important that those applying interstate ensure that they understand the application and preference deadlines applicable in that state – information about dates and the specific admissions criteria for courses and universities is available on the websites of each admission centre.
- It should also be remembered that other pathways exist alongside ATAR and those seeking offers interstate should understand any additional pathways that may be available to them. For example:
- the use of other criteria such as interviews, tests and portfolios for specific courses
- special entry schemes for specific groups such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- the use of Year 11 results for early offer schemes in some states
- specific COVID-related schemes or adjustments in some states.
Information can be found on admission centre and/or specific university websites.
