Final opportunity for semester 1 study

30 Jan 2025

IF you’re still wondering what you’ll be doing in 2025, university study could still be your next step. Some courses are still accepting applications for semester 1, 2025. Applications through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) close at 11.59pm on Friday 7 February.

So far, UAC has made more than 97,000 offers to domestic undergraduate applicants.

Interim Managing Director, Kim Paino, encouraged prospective students to stay positive.

‘If you’ve missed out on an offer, don’t be disheartened. Some courses still have vacancies for semester 1. Contact the university directly to check availability and importantly to find out whether your application will be competitive.’

Also, make sure you are eligible for any courses you list in your preferences. Some courses have special entry requirements, course prerequisites and/or early application closing dates and it may be too late to complete these requirements.

Now could also be the time to consider other course options. ‘Going directly into a bachelor degree isn’t the right fit for everyone. Remember that most institutions have pathway programs that lead into a degree, or you could start with a TAFE qualification or a course at a private college.’ Find out more about pathway options and entry schemes.

Applications open on 2 April for the second half of 2025 and semester 1, 2026.
