ATAR going ahead in 2020

31 Mar 2020

WHILE state education ministers discuss the implications of COVID-19 on Year 12 certificates this year, the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) has announced that it will still be calculating an ATAR for 2020 NSW HSC students.

UAC will be working closely with universities, NESA and schools in the coming weeks and months to consider the impact of potential changes to the HSC on the ATAR and university admissions.

Kim Paino, General Manager of Marketing and Engagement at UAC, says: 'By working through the issues with key stakeholders we will ensure that students who wish to go to university next year will still get an ATAR. We need to not only preserve the integrity of the university admissions process but also, and just as importantly, make sure that any measures put in place maintain equity and fairness for all students.'

UAC has published a response to COVID-19. Further updates will be available on UAC’s website as information comes to hand.
