Applications open early
APPLICATIONS for uni in 2020 open today through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Applications are opening early this year to accommodate university trimesters and early entry and access schemes.
‘It will be good to get it out of the way,’ says Killara High School student Oliver Akayan. ‘Applying earlier in the year will give me time to think about uni further, knowing that I can change my preferences throughout the year.’
Year 12 students have been emailed their PINs and will be able to apply straight away for study at any of UAC’s 27 participating institutions. Last year more than 48,000 Year 12 students applied for undergraduate courses through UAC.
Although not all courses for 2020 will be available to add as a preference, UAC encourages students to choose courses as placeholders and come back later to review and change their preferences. Courses will be added gradually in the coming months and all semester 1, 2020 courses will be available from early August as per usual.
Early bird applications close at the end of September and offer rounds and other deadlines remain the same as previous years. Dates are available on UAC's website.
For students not in Year 12 looking to start uni mid-year, applications for semester 2, 2019 courses are also open.
To help with the decision-making process, applicants can check courses on UAC's website, the My UAC app or in the UAC Guide 2019–20.
