October is go time for postgraduate psychology hopefuls
October is UAC’s busiest month for postgraduate applications.
The reason? Many postgraduate psychology degree applications close in October 2026 for courses that begin in early 2027.
Entry into psychology is highly competitive and requires applicants to plan ahead to meet entry requirements.
Tips for prospective applicants
- Read the application steps for each course closely.
- Give your referees plenty of time. Many courses ask that your two references are uploaded to the Australian Psychology Postgraduate Reference System before the final course closing date.
- Update your CV. Many institutions request an up-to-date CV as part of the application process.

What is the difference between CSP and DFEE?
There are two main fee types for domestic students:
- CSP (Commonwealth-supported Place) means the Australian Government pays part of your tuition fees. There are usually very limited CSP places to postgraduate courses.
- DFEE (domestic fee-paying) means you pay the full tuition fee set by the institution, though eligible students can access FEE-HELP loans.
Note that some of the postgraduate courses listed above as DFEE also offer limited CSP places on a competitive basis.
