New Sydney accommodation for nursing students

Students studying nursing degrees at Avondale University's Sydney campus now have access to purpose-designed accommodation at The Quarters, conveniently located within the Clinical Education Centre (CEC) in the Sydney Adventist Hospital precinct. Living at The Quarters means students are just moments from classes, practical learning experiences and campus facilities, while enjoying easy access to the wider Sydney region.

New flexible diagnostic radiography degree

Charles Sturt University has introduced an updated version of its Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science, now offered as the Bachelor of Diagnostic Radiography with a flexible, staged study model designed to support students' transition into a healthcare career:

  • Year 1: Study on campus in Wagga Wagga or Port Macquarie, building strong foundations, connecting with other students and learning closely with academics.
  • From Year 1: Students begin work-integrated learning, giving them early practical experience and industry exposure.
  • Year 2: Transition to hybrid study, combining online learning with short, on-campus intensives for greater flexibility.
  • Years 3 to 4: Study fully online while completing work-integrated learning in real-world healthcare settings.
  • Final year: Students complete a 20-week residency, gaining valuable professional experience before they graduate.

This approach supports students to develop practical experience alongside their studies, graduating ready for a career as a diagnostic radiographer.

Applications open for $20,000 engineering scholarship

Charles Sturt University is offering 27 Transgrid Engineering Scholarships worth $20,000 each for engineering students starting in 2027.

The scholarship is designed to help students focus on their studies, with half the funding paid upfront and the flexibility to spend it where they need it most – from study resources and technology to accommodation and living expenses.

It can also be combined with other Charles Sturt scholarships, including accommodation scholarships.

Alongside financial support, Charles Sturt's Bachelor of Engineering gives students a head start on their career.

  • Foundational common first year before students need to choose their major.
  • Choose from civil, electrical or mechanical engineering majors.
  • 2+2 structure: first two years completed at the Bathurst campus, then final two years in paid industry cadetships, working on real engineering projects.

Open Day online chat session

Students are invited to join the Open Day online chat session to chat with CQUniversity staff about their course of interest, pathways to university, student support services, or anything else they’d like to know about studying with CQUniversity. Year 12 revision webinars

ACU has teamed up with InspirED for a series of free online webinars run by experienced Year 12 exam markers and assessors. They’ll guide students through how to respond to possible exam questions, help them get their head around the class content to deepen their understanding, and offer plenty of tips and strategies along the way.

Changes to Bachelor of Biomedical Science prerequisites

ACU’s Bachelor of Biomedical Science no longer has subject prerequisites for admission to the course on their North Sydney campus. Instead, students are recommended to have studied the following, with course content assuming knowledge of:

  • any two units of English (Standard) (Band 3) or English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) (Band 4)
  • any two units of one of the following (Band 2): Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics. 

HSC Masterclasses

Excelsia University College is offering HSC Masterclasses for Year 12 Drama and Music students. Gain practical tools, tips, and insights to enhance HSC success. Delivered on campus, the program extends classroom learning through interactive workshops designed to challenge and creatively stimulate.

Year 12 Early Offer Guarantee Webinar

Students and parents can join online to learn about Griffith University's Year 12 Early Offer Guarantee, where students can secure an offer to study at Griffith before receiving their ATAR or IB results. This webinar will cover how to apply, eligibility criteria, eligible degrees and alternative guaranteed admission pathways, helping students plan ahead with greater confidence.

Balancing Elite Sport with University Study Webinar

Senior students involved in elite or high-performance sport are invited to attend this webinar supporting their transition from school to university. Students will explore pathways into Griffith and learn about support available through Griffith Sports College and Griffith's partnership with the Australian Olympic Committee, alongside tips for balancing study and elite sport.

Year 10 Guide to Uni webinar

The Year 10 Guide to Uni webinar outlines key considerations, common misconceptions and practical realities of subject selection, to assist students and their families make informed and confident choices.

Changes to Adjustment Factors

  • Macquarie Catchment and regional adjustment factors: These are no longer available. Regional students may be eligible for adjustment factors through the Educational Access Scheme. Apply directly through UAC.
  • FIRST Robotics Australia adjustment factors: These are no longer offered. However, students who have participated in FIRST Robotics Australia competitions can include this as a recognised extra-curricular activity in their application to the Macquarie Leaders and Achievers Early Entry Scheme.
  • Academic Advantage adjustment factors: This scheme will be replaced by a new initiative, Subject Advantage Entry, which also replaces the Academic Entry Pathway. This merit-based pathway considers a student’s performance in specific Year 12 subjects aligned with their chosen Macquarie degree. Further details, including eligibility and participating courses will be available soon.

Packaged health degrees at Macquarie

Prospective students interested in a career in healthcare can now bundle an offer for Macquarie’s Bachelor of Clinical Science with a postgraduate degree in Physiotherapy, Clinical Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology, or Public Health. This provides a single, fast-tracked pathway into a healthcare career. They are encouraged to book a personalised consultation to learn more.

Course update: Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning

The Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning is the only three-year undergraduate planning degree in NSW, enabling students to fast-track their pathway into a future-focused career. With a strong social and environmental planning focus and embedded Indigenous perspectives, the degree builds a comprehensive understanding of the forces shaping contemporary places. Students gain hands-on experience from day one, including more than 150 hours of industry projects and fieldwork, while developing skills in emerging technologies such as AI and geographic information science. Flexible online study options and strong industry connections further prepare graduates for diverse career opportunities across planning and related fields.

For students who are starting to explore science or are already passionate enthusiasts, these monthly talks are suitable for ages 10 and up, offering inspiring insights and a glimpse into the technological advancements shaping our future.

Does God Play Dice? 2026 AIP Einstein Lecture

Join the annual Einstein Lecture, exploring one of the most intriguing questions in physics: does the universe run on certainty – or chance?

Dr Luke A. Barnes will take us on a journey through these ideas, examining how our understanding of randomness has evolved – and whether science has finally resolved Einstein’s famous objection, or if the universe truly does play dice.

This event is ideal for upper high school and university physics students, science enthusiasts, or anyone curious about the nature of reality.

Macquarie University Incubator Ideas Challenge

  • Terms 3 and 4, 2026

Applications are now open for Cohort 5 of the Ideas Challenge, running across Terms 3 and 4, 2026. Delivered by Macquarie University Incubator in partnership with Young Wisdom, this free, fully funded online program invites students in Years 9 to 12 across NSW to develop innovative ideas that tackle real-world problems while building valuable skills such as creative thinking, problem solving, collaboration and pitching.

Successful applicants will take part in interactive online workshops, access expert mentorship, and complete flexible challenges through Google Classroom, earning Macquarie University-issued microcredentials along the way.

[EX]plore Science Extension Conference

Students are invited to Macquarie University for a full-day conference showcasing the research of Year 12 HSC Science Extension students. Designed as an authentic research experience, the event brings together school students, undergraduates and PhD researchers to share a passion for science through presentations, posters, networking opportunities and Faculty of Science lab tours. Prizes will be awarded for outstanding presentations. Year 12 students can register independently and will present their work at the conference, while Year 10 and 11 students must be registered by a teacher. 

Astronomy Open Night

Sydney’s most spectacular night of science and stargazing returns this September. Whether you’re a lifelong astronomy enthusiast or simply curious about the universe, Astronomy Open Night offers an unforgettable evening for all ages.

Discover exciting new highlights, including The Big Cosmic Q&A, where you can put your questions to our experts, and So You Like Science – What Now?, a special session for students planning their next steps after high school. Engineering in 2027

From 2027, the University of Newcastle is introducing greater flexibility for students starting their engineering degree. With a common first semester, a new Bachelor of Engineering (Flexible Entry) option and more opportunities to personalise your studies, you'll have greater freedom to explore your interests and shape your future.

Notre Dame Study Centres in Oran Park and Auburn

Notre Dame is now offering courses towards certain undergraduate degrees through the Notre Dame Study Centres in Oran Park and Auburn. In their first year, students can choose to complete two courses at the Study Centre and two at Notre Dame's Broadway campus. Study Centre lectures are delivered online, combined with in-person tutorials, featuring small group learning and pastoral support. The University of Sydney offers over $135 million in scholarships each year for commencing domestic undergraduate students. Join an online webinar on Wednesday 29 July, 4 pm (AEST), to discover the different types of scholarships available for domestic students, get tips for a strong application, and have your questions answered by expert University of Sydney staff.

Expressions of interest are open for the University of Sydney's 2026 Gadalung Program 

Expressions of interest (EOIs) are now open for the 2026 Gadalung Program. This fully funded program is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 10 to 11 from across Australia.

Participants must be available to attend during the October school holidays, from Mon 28 Sep to Thu 1 Oct 2026. All expenses are covered by the University of Sydney.

EOIs close on Fri 31 Jul, so be sure to apply early.

New program for 2027

Registrations are open for Western’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Entry Program. The next assessment period begins Thu 30 July, with online and on campus dates available until Fri 14 Aug.

Free online HSC study sessions

From Mon 28 Sep to Wed 7 Oct 2026, Western Sydney University will be offering a series of free online study sessions to help Year 12 students prepare for the HSC. 

Delivered by highly qualified senior teachers, the program includes 22 free sessions across 14 key HSC subject areas. Each session includes content analysis, practical tips and strategies, and a detailed exploration of key syllabus and curriculum topics.
