Admission criteria and entry schemes
To be eligible for entry to Excelsia University College courses you must meet the general requirements listed in one or more of the following categories:
- satisfy English language proficiency requirements for the course you are applying to
- be selected in competition with other eligible applicants.
Some courses may require you to attend an interview or an audition. Details are included in relevant course descriptions.

Undergraduate applicants
Applicants with recent secondary education are those whose admission is primarily based on the completion of Year 12 within the last two years. This also includes applicants who may have completed their senior secondary studies with a TAFE or VET provider within the last two years and includes applicants whose secondary education was undertaken interstate or overseas.
It is expected that all Excelsia College students will have reached the age of 18 during their first year of study.
Australian Year 12 students
Selection will be based on completion of an Australian Year 12 or equivalent, including the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Overseas Year 12
Applicants who are an Australian citizen or permanent resident and have completed a secondary school qualification from an overseas institution within the past two-years, will have their application assessed by the International Admissions team to determine equivalency with the Australia secondary school certificate, using NOOSR and/or NARIC guidelines.
Criteria that may apply in addition to a Year 12 qualification

Other admission options
Tertiary Preparation Programs
If you have completed a Tertiary Preparation Program, your application will be considered on this basis.
Limited ATAR
If you are eligible for a Limited ATAR, your application will be considered on this basis.
Applicants who have completed prior higher education study may be assessed and selected for admission if they meet one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any course-specific entry requirements including but not limited to interviews, referee reports and portfolios:
- For bachelor degree, associate degree and undergraduate certificate – a completed higher education qualification at AQF level 4 (certificate IV) or above, or equivalent, from an accredited higher education provider or from a registered training organisation (RTO).

Tertiary Preparation Programs
If you have completed a Tertiary Preparation Program, your application will be considered on this basis.
Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning
Credit or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be applied for if the applicant is successful and after they have accepted their letter of offer and written agreement.

Applicants who have completed prior vocational education study may be assessed and selected for admission if they meet one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any course-specific entry requirements including but not limited to interviews, referee reports and portfolios:
- For bachelor degree, associate degree and undergraduate certificate – a completed higher education qualification at AQF level 4 (certificate IV) or above, or equivalent, from an accredited higher education provider or from a registered training organisation (RTO).

Mature-aged or post-school applicants may be admitted based on employment experience and/or an interview process. You are encouraged to apply and contact Excelsia University College to find out how you can enter into a program.
Applicants who do not meet the formal entry requirements may be considered on a case by case basis.
Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
Mature-aged or post-school applicants may be admitted on the basis of the STAT Multiple Choice test.
There are commonly accepted overseas secondary qualifications that Excelsia College may take into consideration. Check your qualification.

English language proficiency
If you hold overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction, you must provide evidence of English language proficiency.
Excelsia College welcomes First Nations applicants who may be able to successfully complete a given course, but who may not have had reasonable prior opportunity to develop experience and qualifications sufficient to satisfy the entry criteria for that course.
