Admission criteria and entry schemes
Whether you are a Year 12 student, a non-school leaver, or looking to further your studies, there are multiple pathways to gain admission into your chosen course at Avondale University.
Undergraduate applicants
Australian Year 12 students
Selection is based on successful completion of an Australian Year 12 or equivalent, including the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Overseas Year 12 equivalent
Applicants who have completed a secondary school qualification overseas within the past two-years, will have their application assessed by the International Admissions team. Equivalency is determined using NOOSR and/or NARIC guidelines
Criteria that may apply in addition to a Year 12 qualification
Some courses may have additional selection requirements. Details are provided in the course descriptions on UAC's course search.
Other admission options
Tertiary Preparation Programs
If you have completed a recognised Tertiary Preparation Program, your application will be considered on this basis.
Limited ATAR
If you are eligible for a Limited ATAR, your application will be considered on this basis.
Applicants who have completed prior higher education may be considered for admission if they meet one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any course-specific requirements (eg interviews, referee reports and portfolios):
- Bachelor degree – completion of a qualification at AQF level 5 (diploma) or above, or equivalent
- Diploma and Undergraduate Certificate in Business – completion of a qualification at AQF level 4 (certificate IV) or above, or equivalent,
- Undergraduate certificate in Tertiary Preparation – completion of a qualification at AQF level 3 certificate III) or above, or equivalent,
All qualifications must be be from an accredited higher education provider or a registered training organisation (RTO).
Other admission options
Tertiary Preparation Programs
If you have completed a Tertiary Preparation Program, your application will be considered on this basis.
Applicants who have completed prior vocational education study may be considered for admission if they meet one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any course-specific requirements (eg interviews, referee reports and portfolios):
- Bachelor degree – completion of a qualification at AQF level 5 (diploma) or above, or equivalent
- Diploma and Undergraduate Certificate in Business – completion of a qualification at AQF level 4 (certificate IV) or above, or equivalent,
- Undergraduate certificate in Tertiary Preparation – completion of a qualification at AQF level 3 certificate III) or above, or equivalent,

Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact Avondale University to discuss your eligibility before applying to UAC.
Applicants who complete secondary education more than two year ago may be considered based on:
- employment experience
- interview process.
Applicants who do not meet formal entry requirements may still be considered on a case by case basis.
Entrance exams
Mature-aged or post-school applicants may be admitted on the basis of the appropriate scores in Avondale University-approved entrance exams.
Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
Mature-aged or post-school applicants may be admitted on the basis of the STAT Multiple Choice test.

English language proficiency
If English is not your first language, you will be required to provide evidence of English language proficiency.
Avondale University supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students throughout their studies.
