25 May 2022

PASSION for their subject matter is the primary driver of university course selection for students according to a new report from the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

The Student Lifestyle Report 2022 shows that students are also keenly aware of their future job prospects with employability outcomes considered by 44 per cent of respondents, and the opportunity for work experience and internships considered by 31 per cent.

UAC surveyed nearly 14,000 students. This group of young people has transitioned to adulthood during the first pandemic in over a century. They told us that their chief concerns are planning for their future (65 per cent), their financial security (59 per cent) and mental health (50 per cent) – worryingly this figure is up from 44 per cent last year.

After two years of disruption the majority of them are looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing the social life of campus.

You can find out more about what they think in the Student Lifestyle Report.

These are the voices of the thinkers, leaders and creators of tomorrow.
