THE majority of Year 12 students have received their offers to uni and the stats are in – Health, Management and Commerce, and Society and Culture are the most in-demand fields of study.

Data released today by the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) indicates a strong preference among applicants for health degrees. The Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine at UNSW Sydney tops the list at 1,297 unique first preferences. The Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine joint medical program at University of Newcastle and University of New England, and the Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Technology Sydney also make the top 10 list.

The Bachelor of Business at the University of Technology Sydney was the second most in-demand course with 1,211 first preferences, and the combined Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney was third with 1,052 first preferences.

The popular Bachelor of Arts degree also featured prominently in the top 10 list, with the Australian National University flexible arts program, and the University of Sydney and Macquarie University Arts degrees receiving a combined 2,261 first preferences.

UNSW Sydney’s Double Bachelor of Commerce and The University of Sydney’s Bachelor of Commerce rounded out the list.

With a further 6,826 offers to be released on Friday, UAC strongly recommends that applicants accept offers they are made now so they don’t miss out on the opportunity to study in first semester this year as courses are filling up fast.

Potential students can still apply through UAC for study in first semester until midnight Friday 8 February 2019, and UAC encourages applicants to check directly with the institution they’re interested in to see if they still have vacancies and are making offers in the February offer rounds.
