Early offer applications hit new high as students seek certainty

08 Sep 2025

More Year 12 students than ever are seeking early offers through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

When applications closed on Friday 5 September, nearly 28,000 students had lodged an application for the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) – a 3.3 per cent increase on last year’s record intake.

SRS enables institutions to make early offers of admission based on criteria other than, or in addition to, the ATAR.

UAC spokesperson Peter Gangemi said the steady rise in applications reflected both student demand and greater awareness of the scheme.

‘The number of applications to the Schools Recommendation Scheme shows that Year 12 students have a significant appetite for university study.

‘This is also the second year of UAC’s streamlined process, making it quicker and easier for students to apply for SRS.’

Students must finalise their course preferences for the first SRS offer round by 11.59pm on Thursday 6 November. The first SRS offers will be released on Thursday 13 November.
