Demand for uni study stronger than ever

03 Aug 2021

THE Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) reports that applications for uni study in 2022 are strong, with well over 24,000 Year 12 applications already received – 6 per cent higher than the same time last year.

That trend is likely to continue, with all courses for semester 1, 2022 now available on the UAC website.

In one application, students can apply for study at 26 institutions, offering more than 2,000 courses. Having a UAC application also allows students to apply for Educational Access Schemes, Schools Recommendation Schemes and Equity Scholarships.

Kim Paino, General Manager of Marketing and Engagement, encourages students who haven’t already applied to apply before early bird closing on Thursday 30 September, when the fee increases. 'We know lots of Year 12s are feeling anxious about the uncertainty of life at the moment, but we encourage them to continue planning for their future after school and doing things like their UAC application. Even if they’re not sure yet what they want to study, they should apply now because they’ll have plenty of time to change their preferences later.'

While the ATAR is still the main selection tool for Year 12s, the disruptions to students this year caused by COVID-19 mean that many institutions have extended early entry schemes and other entry options available to help Year 12s get to uni in 2022.

UAC is also here to help and our call centre is fully operational on (02) 9752 0775 Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. Livechat and email are available on our website.

UAC is running a Q&A session on Facebook and Instagram at 5pm today, Tuesday 3 August, to answer questions from students, schools and parents about uni study in 2022. Ms Paino will talk about applying for uni in a pre-recorded video and the UAC team will be online from 5pm to 7pm to answer questions in real-time.
