Christmas comes early for Year 12 students

15 Dec 2017

YEAR 12 students are set to enjoy their holidays even more with the introduction of an offer round before Christmas after ATARs were released today.

The Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) will release offers next week, in December Round 2, on Thursday 21 December. Applicants can check if they have an offer on the My UAC mobile app or on UAC’s website from 7.30am.

Kim Paino, General Manager of Marketing and Engagement at UAC, says ‘The pre-Christmas offer round ensures that offers are made to as many students as possible and as soon as possible, so students don’t have an agonising wait to find out if they’ve got into a course.’

Ms Paino says that, apart from the growth in early offers, the other area of interest is around course cut-offs. ‘When we release the December Round 2 offers, we’ll also make available the cut-off needed by Year 12 students for entry into each course. It’s important that everyone understands that these cut-offs are not minimum ATARs, they are the lowest rank needed for entry and include bonus points. Many Year 12 students receive offers to courses even though their ATAR is below the cut-off because they have been awarded bonus points.’

Other Australian Year 12 students and IB students whose results are not available in time for December Round 2 will not be disadvantaged: their results will be considered in January Round 1 (Friday 12 January 2018) and January Round 2 (Wednesday 31 January 2018).

Further information is available on UAC’s website.
