A helping hand to access uni

29 Apr 2024

STUDENTS dealing with financial hardship, a medical condition, difficult personal circumstances, or even those impacted by a natural disaster such as a flood or severe storm, which has negatively impacted their schooling during years 11 or 12, can receive a helping hand through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

UAC has several schemes to help students access higher education.

The Educational Access Scheme (EAS) helps students who have experienced disadvantage gain entry into university.

The Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) is one way institutions make early offers of undergraduate admission to Year 12 students using criteria other than (or in addition to) the ATAR.

Equity Scholarships offer financial assistance to students from low socio-economic backgrounds.

Kim Paino, General Manager, Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer, says, ‘We’re committed to providing all students with the opportunity to access higher education, so they can achieve their potential regardless of the educational disadvantages or personal hardships they may have experienced'.

More information can be found on UAC's website, or call our helpful Customer Service team on (02) 9752 0200.
