This double degree includes the study of biology, chemistry and introductory pharmacy units in the first year, with a progressive emphasis on practical pharmacy experience in subsequent years. You may have the opportunity to undertake an international exchange.
Core studies in biology, chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmacy, pharmacy practice. In the final year you have the option to complete studies in either industrial pharmacy (consisting of an extended professional placement) or international pharmacy.
Community pharmacist (community practice), hospital pharmacist, industrial pharmacist, including drug production, marketing or drug development.
The master's component of this double degree integrates the compulsory Intern Training Program (ITP) and supervised practice requirements as required by the Pharmacy Board of Australia. Graduates can then apply for general registration as a pharmacist (after passing the Pharmacy Board of Australia registration examination and meeting the Board's registration standards).
The clinical experience program reflects the contemporary health care environment. In the bachelor’s component of the degree you will complete clinical placements through the compulsory Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program. You will start the clinical placements in the first year and continue across each year of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours).
In the master's component of the degree you will complete supervised practice hours as required by the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
Clinical placements are carried out at hospital and community pharmacies, and include opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry, professional organisations and in rural health settings. For more information on clinical placements, visit the University of Sydney website.
The Australian Government subsidises the tuition fee for this course. The remaining balance is paid by the student. Current University of Sydney fee information.

Open Learning Environment (OLE)
Open Learning Environment (OLE) units are short, on-demand and workshop- supported. They enable you to broaden your skills in areas such as entrepreneurial thinking, persuasive communication, project management and ethical reasoning. OLEs are available to all students at the University, while students commencing in liberal studies degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce or combined Bachelor of Advanced Studies) and some specialist degrees (Bachelor of Economics) must complete 6 credit points of OLE units.
