Prepare yourself to navigate the complexities of our interconnected world as you delve into the heart of global politics, history, culture, and language. You will be equipped with the interdisciplinary expertise required to understand and tackle issues of international scope and embrace subjects that cross both disciplinary and linguistic boundaries. This degree brings the theoretical rigour of international politics together with the contextual approaches of history, area studies, and language. Unravel and explore questions of conflict and justice, state and non-state actors, and the nature and operations of international institutions; through captivating case studies spanning a wide range of regions and language communities, you’ll gain invaluable insights into the multifaceted nature of global affairs.
At the heart of this degree is supports the fostering of global citizenship and understanding. You will have the chance to engage with diverse perspectives, languages, and cultures, broadening your world view and preparing you to become a thoughtful and effective global leader.
In the Bachelor of International Studies, you will complete 144 credit points in total, including a 48-credit point major in International Studies, plus a 36-credit point minor or 48-credit point second major from a select pool, 24 credit points of selective language units if that minor or second major is not a language major or minor, and any electives required to meet 144 credit points. For students enrolled in the Dalyell Stream, a minimum of 12 credit points of Dalyell Stream units of study as specified in Table D must be completed. As required, elective units from Table A for the Bachelor of International Studies, or Table S, or for students enrolled in the Dalyell stream, Table D, or a maximum of 12 credit points of units from Table O.

Open Learning Environment (OLE) units are short, on-demand and workshop- supported. They enable you to broaden your skills in areas such as entrepreneurial thinking, persuasive communication, project management and ethical reasoning. OLEs are available to all students at the University, while students commencing in liberal studies degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce or combined Bachelor of Advanced Studies) and some specialist degrees (Bachelor of Economics) must complete 6 credit points of OLE units.
