The HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing provides students with the knowledge, skills and attributes to become an Enrolled Nurse. Students will learn how to communicate effectively with patients and other staff, administer and monitor medications, manage the care of wounds and prepare health assessments and care plans.
Successful completion of the diploma provides entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Wollongong.
This is a nationally approved vocational course that is recognised throughout Australia.

Fully accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Practical experience
You will have opportunities to apply theory to practice in modern simulated supported learning environments, prior to undertaking workplace experience. During the course you will 400 hours of clinical work placement experiences with healthcare facilities.

Essential requirements for admission
Interview plus reading and numeracy assessment: In addition to applying through UAC, you will need to demonstrate academic and course suitability at a panel interview. The purpose of the panel interview is to assist UOW College in determining your suitability to the demands of the course and enrolled nursing in general. You will also need to achieve a minimum result of Exit Level 3 in online numeracy and/or reading tests administered by UOW College. Minimum age requirement: You must be a minimum age of 17 years at the time you commence the course.

Assumed knowledge: Any 2 units of English.
Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study
If you have completed an AQF Certificate III, AQF Certificate IV, AQF Diploma or AQF Advanced Diploma you will be considered for admission to this course.
