Both Human Geography and Environment and Heritage majors are available within the Bachelor of Science. They address questions around human impact, managing valued landscapes and the designation of heritage sites. Develop the research and critical thinking skills of both a scientist and social scientist to address contemporary questions and challenges of environment and heritage management and learn the practical skills of human geographers and environmental scientists to creatively solve problems.
Throughout your degree, you will gain core fundamental knowledge across practical and theoretical subjects, with the opportunity to specialise in either Human Geography or Environment and Heritage Management.
These majors investigate issues of global significance, especially the human impact on the Earth, the management of valuable landscapes, and the planning of cities and regions.
During this degree you will investigate solutions to issues around climate change, economic development, environmental management, population and cultural change, and urban, rural and regional planning, and have opportunities to undertake individual research subjects at second and third year levels, and to participate in various enrichment activities.

Optional internships; industry projects; practicals and fieldwork, taking advantage of the local Illawarra environment including urban and heritage landscapes, coastal landscapes, rainforest escarpment and freshwater ecosystems.
Available as an additional year of study to meritorious students.
Assumed knowledge: Mathematics Advanced, any 2 units of science.
Bridging courses in Biology and Chemistry are offered in February each year.
