About
Understand human behaviour when you study psychology as a pathway to primary education at UOW. Scientifically study the human mind, its functions and how it influences behaviour.
Learn about the physiological, sensory and cognitive processes of human experience and how psychologists and teachers can apply this knowledge to enhance the learning and development of children. On completion, you will work directly with students to help them improve their wellbeing and learning outcomes.
When you combine your studies in psychology with a Master of Teaching (Primary) you will graduate with two degrees, enhancing your professional skills and career options. Alongside core studies in psychology and other electives, you will complete a minor in education and complete several Master of Teaching subjects in the final year of your bachelor's degree. The Master of Teaching (Primary) makes you eligible to teach children aged 5 to 12 years in public, religious and private schools.
Your course will take five years but with fewer subjects compared to doing the courses separately. Progression to the Master of Teaching (Primary) is subject to meeting the normal admission requirements of the master’s degree and will be assessed at the end of your second year.

Professional recognition
Accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. Students will not qualify for the honours year to meet the academic requirements for eligibility for provisional registration as a psychologist unless additional honours eligibility subjects are completed.
