Surveyors are experts in the measurement, management, analysis, and display of spatial information describing the Earth and its physical features. They play a crucial role in the economy as custodians of the cadastre (land titling system). The work of surveyors has no bounds, offering opportunities both locally and globally.
The Diploma in Surveying will provide you with basic foundational knowledge in surveying principles and practices. The program introduces fundamentals of surveying, mathematics for engineering and legal aspects relevant to the field. There is a strong emphasis on hands-on fieldwork and practical application of essential skills, to prepare students for entry-level positions in the surveying industry.
The Diploma in Surveying provides you with a level 5 diploma qualification, with the opportunity to progress into the Associate Degree, or Bachelor of Surveying (Honours) to become a registered surveyor.
If you are applying for the surveying degree listed below, you should consider listing the Diploma in Surveying as a lower back-up preference.
Cadastral surveying, legal systems and processes for land management, modern surveying methods and equipment, spatial data systems and remote sensing, surveying techniques and computations.
Surveyors are involved in the planning of almost all development and mapping of the land and earth. A shortage of surveyors in Australia has led to high demand for graduates. This program will prepare you with the basic knowledge and practical skills for entry-level surveying positions. These positions may include an assistant land surveyor, geospatial analyst, or survey technician.
Assumed knowledge: Mathematics Advanced (Band 5). Applicants who have achieved less than Band 5 may need additional study and/or assistance to successfully complete the mathematics requirement of the program.
