Use science to understand people. This combined program prepares you to work in a broad range of industries where you can positively impact the way businesses operate and the lives of others.
The combined Bachelor of Psychological Science/Bachelor of Business investigates broad business skills that incorporate understanding of ethical, economic, regulatory and global perspectives, complemented with a deep understanding of psychological processes and principles.
Together, these skills form a dynamic foundation which can be implemented to improve business practices, better understand corporate culture, and inform strategic direction.
Clinical psychology and psychological disorders, cognition and information processing, developmental psychology, entrepreneurship and innovation, human resource management, international business, leadership and management, marketing, neuroscience, perceptual processes and learning theory, politics and international relations, research methodology, social psychology and personality, statistics, tourism and event management.
Note: Many courses are available online. Not all majors in the Bachelor of Business are available on both campuses.
Market research analyst, human resources manager, careers counsellor, brand manager, recruitment consultant, organisational development manager, training and development manager, case worker, mediator.
A registered psychologist role (including clinical psychologist) requires additional study (an Honours plus relevant Masters degree).
The Bachelor of Business is accredited through the Australian Marketing Institute (marketing major) and the Australian Human Resource Institute (human resource management major).
The Newcastle Business School is accredited with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, earned by fewer than 5% of the world's business programs.
The Bachelor of Psychological Science is accredited with the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.
It is the first step on the path to becoming a registered professional psychologist.
Upon completion of an APAC accredited undergraduate degree, a further minimum of three years education and training in
psychology is required to register as a psychologist in Australia.
Career-ready placement and research opportunities can be sought with Research Labs, the University of Newcastle Psychology Community Clinic and external agencies. Students will access psychology labs and equipment.
They will undertake pre-professional courses each year, preparing for professional practice with guest lectures and problem-based workshops.
The Bachelor of Business integrates opportunities for you to gain national and international workplace experience and professional mentoring, building practical skills and work-ready graduates.
Available as an additional year (or part time equivalent) to meritorious students.
Assumed knowledge: Mathematics Standard or higher, English Standard or higher.
Recommended studies: Biology, English Advanced.

Honours
Applicants should note that under the revised Australian Qualifications Framework some programs are four-year programs available with direct entry. Other programs are three-year Bachelor degree programs. Meritorious students have the option to apply for an additional one-year end-on component after graduation.
