By combining the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) with a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), you can gain a second degree in as little as one year additional study. This industry-aligned double degree helps you develop highly-sought after skills to open up a wider range of opportunities after graduation. With eCommerce, artificial intelligence and security engineering becoming increasingly embedded in our day-to-day lives, graduates with advanced knowledge in these areas will be invaluable assets to any organisation, government body or non-profit.In the Advanced Science (Honours) degree, you’ll gain strong foundational knowledge across key scientific fields with advanced-level subjects to challenge you academically. You’ll choose from 24 majors, including biology and biodiversity, chemistry, genetics and advanced physics. Immersive research experiences and an embedded honours year will prepare you to enter the workforce as a leader in your field.
In the Computer Science component, you will study the design, construction and uses of computer systems. There are more than seven Computer Science majors to choose from, including artificial intelligence, database systems, eCommerce, embedded systems, networks, programming languages and security.
Accelerated or tailored programs of study are available in Advanced Science (Hons) for especially talented students.
Talented Students Program: The Science Talented Students Program introduces high performing students entering the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) to cutting-edge, world-class research at UNSW Science. The program offers these students exposure to research, networking opportunities and provides a degree that is flexible and tailored to suit students' needs and talents.
Invitation to participate in the program is made by the Dean of Science on the basis of outstanding secondary education performance (ATAR or equivalent). All incoming students are assessed for eligibility including non-high school leavers. High performing current UNSW Science students in the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) will be invited to join at the end of their first year.

The Psychology major and Honours year is an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited 4-year undergraduate sequence in Psychology and is the first step on the six-year pathway to becoming a registered professional psychologist. The Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) is accredited by the Australian Computer Society.
