The Bachelor of Nursing is a comprehensive degree that prepares students to meet the Registered Nurse Standards for Practice and to meet their legal and ethical obligations as a registered nurse.
Students will engage in a curriculum that has, at its core, patient safety and person-centred care. There will be a focus on critical thinking, clinical reasoning, critical reflection and the use of current evidence and research that are essential in the development of sound clinical judgements and decisions to practise safely in a complex health environment.
Person-centeredness, communication and cultural safety will be explored in both the theoretical and professional practice components of the degree. There will also be a focus on the healthcare needs and approaches to culturally safe nursing care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students will explore current and emerging global, national and regional health priorities.
The curriculum takes an iterative approach to learning and developingregister ed nurse capability.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s health, complex care and palliation, human body, clinical therapeutics, illness prevention and management, law and ethics, leadership and governance, mental health and wellbeing, public and global health, research for practice.
Students also choose one elective. Options include: Advanced mental health nursing, critical care, maternal care, paediatric nursing, palliative care, perioperative nursing, rural and remote nursing.
Nurse in aged care; community nursing; critical care; mental health; medical and surgical nursing; perioperative nursing; paediatric nursing.

800–1200 hours of full-time clinical experience.
