Bachelor of Engineering Systems (Honours) (Civil Engineering)*

This double degree provides graduates with a thorough understanding of contemporary, responsible business practices, and the critical role technology plays in supporting robust business functions, as well as the technical ability to build infrastructure and systems.

The course produces industry-ready professional engineers with the skills, capabilities and attributes needed to analyse and create solutions for complex engineering systems. Students study a specialisation in Civil Engineering and also choose a business-focused major from a range of subjects.

This double degree is also available online. Attendance at on-campus workshops is a requirement for all students.

Areas of study

Civil engineering. In the Bachelor of Business, majors include: aviation management, business and data analytics, entrepreneurship and innovation, international business, marketing, or tourism and events management.

Career opportunities

Civil engineer in a range of settings, including municipal and government road authorities, water supply and management agencies, construction companies, railway departments and companies, natural resource management organisations, consulting engineering companies, airport authorities, mining companies, irrigation authorities, research organisations, and in tertiary education (with further study). Graduates may also pursue careers as entrepreneurs, capable of running their own engineering business.

Professional recognition

Fully accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer. Courses accredited by Engineers Australia at this level are recognised in many different countries worldwide through the Washington Accord, an international agreement governing recognition of engineering qualifications and professional competence.
