With our Bachelor of Media and Communication, you'll learn how to tell stories across any medium. You'll specialise with one major in journalism, sports media, creative and professional writing, or marketing – then explore your interests with an optional second major, minors and electives from across the university.
Gain real-world experience by taking on an industry placement, studying overseas through international exchange or showcasing your work alongside other emerging professionals as part of La Trobe's own Upstart and Upstart Live. Our industry-grade newsroom boasts a three-camera television studio, professional radio broadcast spaces, a dedicated audio recording studio and digital editing suites.

Work in a range of industries including news and media, sports, health or politics. Possible roles include: social media manager, journalist, videographer, media and communications manager.
During this course, you will have the opportunity to participate in a Work Based Learning (WBL) placement experience, designed to allow you to extend your formal academic learning beyond the classroom. The WBL experience will provide the opportunity to bring your learning from the university into a work environment and test out your knowledge in a professional real-world environment.
