About

Fostering healthy families and creating safe environments for children and youth are key goals for communities. In this degree, you will learn about service delivery centred on young people and families from experts with strong links to the health sector, government and community. It’s a hands-on learning experience delivered in a personal atmosphere whether you're studying on campus or online.

You will study the processes and structures related to providing services in specialist areas such as childcare, education, welfare, development and learning. Child protection and ethics are also a key focus. Work placement is undertaken in the third year of this degree and students will need to be available to work five days a week during this time. Supervised professional practice enables students to apply and refine their skills for working with children and families.

Practical experience

This program requires students to undertake placements. Some placements may be outside the Brisbane metropolitan/Gold Coast area including northern New South Wales and (by negotiation) interstate. Distance education students should be aware that if they live in remote or rural areas, they may be expected to travel to professional placements that may incur accommodation and living expenses. A Griffith University placement officer will help find suitable local placements. However, this cannot always be guaranteed. Visit the Griffith University website for professional practice requirements.

Note that some institutions further differentiate this information on their websites.
  2. The ATAR values exclude any adjustment factors.
