Nursing is the science of professional caring. It offers opportunities to promote and restore health, prevent illness and alleviate suffering.
In this degree, you’ll develop the key knowledge and skills required to provide excellent nursing care. You’ll develop your skills through clinical placements across the health sector and you may have the opportunity to undertake rural, remote and overseas placements. You will learn from leading experts in this degree with Griffith ranked #1 in Australia and #2 in the world for Nursing and Midwifery, following the release of the 2020 Shanghai Ranking of World Universities. This degree involves studies both on and off campus, and clinical experience in a variety of nursing practice situations, including hospitals and community settings. Graduates are eligible to apply for admission to Griffith’s specialised nursing postgraduate programs.
Students can take this program part-time but attendance at day classes is generally required. Part-time students must be available full-time for professional placements.
Nursing.
As a nursing graduate, you’ll be prepared to help fill the demand for nurses, with career opportunities in hospitals, the community, and in urban, rural and remote settings. You’ll be equipped for a career in professional nursing in any healthcare setting.
Graduates of this program will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
Students must undertake placements. A health check, including immunisation status, a Working with Children check and Australian Federal Police check is required. Applicants must complete a nationally accredited first aid certificate with CPR (at their own expense) by the end of the first trimester.

Non-current registered nurse status: This program is not available to applicants who hold a qualification in nursing acceptable for registration as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency/Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Additional selection criteria: This admission point is not for applicants who hold a Diploma of Nursing from an accredited Australian provider and are registered as an enrolled nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or hold a Diploma of Health Care from Griffith College.

Applicants who have completed the Diploma of Nursing at an accredited Australian provider and are registered as an enrolled nurse with AHPRA are eligible for 80 credit points of advanced standing and must apply for the 283345 Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced Standing).
