About

Our innovative and unique Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) allows you to shape the future of engineering – and your career with majors in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering. With our ‘2 + 2’ format, you’ll do two years on campus and then two years of paid cadetships – anywhere you like – to gain real-world paid experience.

Once you complete a common foundational first year and you see what sparks your interest, you’ll then choose from civil, electrical or mechanical or for your second year of study and continue with hands-on project-based learning that brings your ideas to life. For your final two years, you’ll work in paid cadetships in industry on real engineering projects. During these final two years you can expect to work a four-day week with industry, then study online for one day a week . These paid, hands-on experiences give you the chance to develop relationships with potential employers and a head start in your career – you’ll graduate with loads of experience.

Our engineering team are practicing engineers with industry connections, meaning we work closely with industry to ensure our graduates have the skills to get the job done, and our engineering graduates really make a difference when they move into the workforce. They are part of a strong engineering community of academics, industry representatives and a student body that is diverse and supportive.

Incorporating the latest technology, Charles Sturt University's award-winning engineering facilities include a collaborative learning zone, maker studios, project spaces, workshops, a gallery and a 'pitch zone' for fine-tuning entrepreneurial skills.

Plus, we have 25 scholarships each worth $20,000 on offer in 2025, thanks to our Transgrid Civil Engineering Scholarship.
