The ICMS Master of Information Technology (MIT) is an innovative postgraduate degree which meets industry’s growing demand for professionals with technology skills and technical infrastructure expertise.

The accelerating digitisation of business is impacting all sectors of the economy. As automation and artificial intelligence (AI) increase, so do threats from cyber criminals. The resultant labour force gap will require an agile, skilled workforce prepared to take on these new challenges.  information technology (IT).

The MIT degree provides students with valuable, real world IT industry experience that marks them not just as technically skilled, but job ready for this rapidly evolving industry.

This is a contemporary and hands-on degree that has been thoughtfully designed in conjunction with industry to prepare students for the digital age, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and capabilities that are essential to competently and confidently operate in varying domains of IT across diverse roles and industries.

The ICMS Master of Information Technology offers:

  • 4 x Core subjects, including an IT Consulting Project
  • 6 x Specified electives
  • 2 x WIL Professional Placement subjects (Internship)
  • 2 x Elective subjects

With a strong emphasis on industry relevance, the ICMS MIT degree goes beyond theoretical knowledge, placing students in real-world IT job settings as an integral part of their qualifications.

As well as your IT Consulting Project, as an ICMS MIT student you will have the opportunity to complete a Professional Placement (internship) in an Australian or international business within your two (2) Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects, included within the degree.

Professional placements are arranged for you by the dedicated ICMS WIL team who will work with you to secure an individually tailored internship role aimed at building your Australian business networks and connections, as well as providing real life work experience that supports your future career aspirations.

Admission criteria

Academic Requirements for ICMS MIT Degrees:

  • Successful completion of a bachelor degree (AQF 7) from an Australian higher education institution or equivalent; or
  • Successful completion of at least two (2) award, or non-award, postgraduate subjects (at AQF Level 8 or above) from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent; or
  • Successful completion of an approved Postgraduate Qualifying Program from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent; or
  • For mature age entry (21+): successful completion of a diploma or associate degree qualification (or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Government’s qualifications recognition tool) and four years of relevant IT professional or management experience.
