This degree will put you on the path to Master of Teaching (Secondary) and a rewarding career as a high school teacher. It will also give you the skills you need to explore your prospects beyond the classroom.
Initial enrolment in this consecutive program will be into the Bachelor of Arts. After successful completion of the Arts degree, you will transition into Master of Teaching (Secondary) after demonstrating suitability for teaching.
The first three years of the study in the Bachelor of Arts focus on a general program of your choice to gain the necessary learning areas to satisfy the NSW Education Standards Authority requirements for entry into teaching. As part of your study, you will complete four subjects (equivalent to 6 months) in an education studies minor. The fourth and fifth year of study in Master of Teaching (Secondary) will concentrate on contemporary pedagogy to apply your discipline knowledge to a classroom setting.
Completion of the consecutive course in four years involves study of the Master of Teaching (Secondary) component in 12 months in accelerated mode. Master of Teaching (Secondary) is also available in normal full-time mode over 18 months (or part-time equivalent). Initial enrolment in this consecutive program will be into the Bachelor of Arts. Part-time study in the Bachelor of Arts component is generally completed by day, as evening classes are limited.
The Bachelor of Arts and Education components of this program are offered at Bankstown City, Parramatta and Penrith campuses. The full range of education minor subjects are only offered at Bankstown City and Penrith campuses, with a selection of subjects at Parramatta campus and online. The Master of Teaching (Secondary) component is only offered at the Penrith campus.

In the undergraduate component of the course: Business, economics, education studies (mandatory), English, geography, Indigenous Australian studies, studies of religion, languages (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese), mathematics, modern history, music, ancient history, legal studies. Professional recognition
The Master of Teaching (Secondary) is a professional teaching qualification for students possessing an appropriate bachelor degree. It has been fully accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority. Graduates meet the Australian Professional Standards for Graduate Teachers.
Practical experience
Optional internship with an industry or community organisation is available in the undergraduate component. Practice teaching in a variety of secondary school settings is offered in the Master of Teaching (Secondary) component.

Inherent requirements: Students who complete the Bachelor of Arts (Pathway to Teaching Secondary), who then choose to transition into teaching must meet essential components of the Master of Teaching .

Bachelor of Applied Data Science
Bachelor of Applied Data Science is a cross-disciplinary degree that can be taken in combination with any Western Sydney University bachelor degree.
The course teaches a blend of skills, including mathematics, statistics and computing. Graduates will know how to embark on data-driven investigations, and conduct visual and computational analytics for application in their own primary research.
Expressions of interest in the course will be taken during the UAC application process, and eligible students who have expressed an interest and received an offer to another Western Sydney University course will be invited to join the Bachelor of Applied Data Science.
Bachelor of Entrepreneurship
Bachelor of Entrepreneurship is a cross-disciplinary degree that can be taken with any Western Sydney University bachelor degree.
The program will develop mindset, risk tolerance, creativity, passion, big thinking, team formation and leadership capabilities – the key distinct characteristics of high impact entrepreneurs. In an entrepreneurial ecosystem, students will learn the knowledge and techniques for opportunity discovery, impact analysis, customer analysis, strategic teambuilding and leadership, the psychology and ethics of the start-up, funding modelling and financial analysis, growth and exit strategies.
Expressions of interest in the course will be taken during the UAC application process. Eligible students who express an interest and receive an offer to another Western Sydney University course will be invited to join the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship.
Master of Research
This is an elite research degree available to meritorious students in most undergraduate degrees. As an internationally recognised qualification it will allow students to access global employment opportunities and research education.
