About
Initial enrolment in this consecutive program is into the Bachelor of Arts. This consecutive qualification gives you access to a teaching career in 4 years (accelerated mode). The first three years of study in the Bachelor of Arts focus on a general program of your choice to gain the necessary learning areas to satisfy the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requirements for entry into teaching. As part of your study in your Bachelor of Arts degree, you will complete four subjects of study (equivalent to six months) in an education studies minor. The fourth and fifth year of study in Master of Teaching (Secondary) will concentrate on contemporary pedagogy to apply your discipline knowledge to a classroom setting. Completion of the consecutive course in four years involves study of the Master of Teaching (Secondary) component in 12 months in accelerated mode. Master of Teaching (Secondary) is also available in normal full-time mode over 18 months (or part- time equivalent).
Part-time study in the Bachelor of Arts component is generally completed by day, as evening classes are limited.
The Bachelor of Arts (Dean's Scholars) and Education components of this program are offered at Penrith, Bankstown City and Parramatta campuses. The full range of Education minor subjects are offered at Bankstown City and Penrith campuses, with a selection of subjects at Parramatta and online. The Master of Teaching (Secondary) component is only offered at the Penrith campus.
This course offers advanced coursework and requires students to maintain a high grade point average.

Areas of study
In the undergraduate component of the course first areas of teaching specialisations are available in: education studies (mandatory), English, geography and urban studies languages (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese), mathematics, modern history, music for secondary teaching. Professional recognition
Full accreditation with NESA for secondary school teaching in both government and non-government schools in Australia and most other countries once a NESA compliant first and second teaching specialisation have been attained as part of the Bachelor of Arts component of study. Applicants should refer to Teacher accreditation on the NESA website.
Practical experience
Practice teaching in a variety of secondary school settings will be offered in the Master of Teaching component.

Bachelor of Applied Data Science
Bachelor of Applied Data Science is a cross-disciplinary degree that can be taken in combination with any Western Sydney University bachelor degree.
The course teaches a blend of skills, including mathematics, statistics and computing. Graduates will know how to embark on data-driven investigations, and conduct visual and computational analytics for application in their own primary research.
Expressions of interest in the course will be taken during the UAC application process, and eligible students who have expressed an interest and received an offer to another Western Sydney University course will be invited to join the Bachelor of Applied Data Science.
Bachelor of Entrepreneurship
Bachelor of Entrepreneurship is a cross-disciplinary degree that can be taken with any Western Sydney University bachelor degree.
The program will develop mindset, risk tolerance, creativity, passion, big thinking, team formation and leadership capabilities – the key distinct characteristics of high impact entrepreneurs. In an entrepreneurial ecosystem, students will learn the knowledge and techniques for opportunity discovery, impact analysis, customer analysis, strategic teambuilding and leadership, the psychology and ethics of the start-up, funding modelling and financial analysis, growth and exit strategies.
Expressions of interest in the course will be taken during the UAC application process. Eligible students who express an interest and receive an offer to another Western Sydney University course will be invited to join the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship.
Master of Research
This is an elite research degree available to meritorious students in most undergraduate degrees. As an internationally recognised qualification it will allow students to access global employment opportunities and research education.
