About

With our Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours), you'll start building practical skills straightaway and undertake clinical training equivalent to seven months of workplace experience. In your Honours year, you'll undertake research or industry-based project work where you'll solve real problems relating to human health and physical performance.

You can take your physiotherapy degree global with international placement or study opportunities, or keep it local with placements throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria. The choice is yours.

Practical experience

During this course, you will participate in one or more supervised Work Based Learning (WBL) placements designed to allow you to practise newly acquired skills, behaviours and knowledge while integrating theory with practice. The placements will immerse you in professional work culture, enabling you to develop and further enhance your skills.

Essential requirements for admission

Immunisation: Prior to commencing a placement, students are required to meet all of the requirements of the degree in relation to immunisation and testing for blood-borne viruses. Students must visit a medical practitioner who will complete and sign the Immunisation and Health Record form. Further information will be provided post enrolment.

National Police Record Check: Successful applicants will be required to hold a valid National Police Record Check for professional placements as part of this course.

Working With Children Check: Successful applicants will be required to hold a valid Working With Children Check prior to undertaking professional placements as part of this course.

First aid/CPR certificate: First Aid and/or CPR certification is required to meet the professional requirements of the degree. Further information will be provided post enrolment.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) worker screening check: Prior to commencing a placement, students will be required to complete a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) worker screening check. For information refer to the Services Victoria website. Further information will be provided post enrolment.

Mask fit testing: Prior to commencing a placement, students may be required to complete an annual mask fit test. Further information will be provided post enrolment.

Core participation requirements: Core participation requirements are abilities, attributes and behaviours that are required to undertake learning activities and professional experience in your course. Prerequisites

One of English Advanced (Band 3) or English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Band 4) plus Band 3 in two of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics Standard 2, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 2, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE), or Physics.

Admission criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education

Subject adjustments: Applicants who successfully complete one of the following HSC or equivalent Year 12 subjects will have their selection rank increased by one point per study:

  • Band 4 in Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics Standard 1, Mathematics Standard 2, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 2; Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE), Physics.
  • Band 2 in any language other than English.

Selection ranks can be increased by a maximum of four points.

Applicants with higher education study

To be considered based on higher education study results, applicants must have completed a minimum of 1.00 equivalent full time study load (EFTSL) in a degree award qualification.

Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study

Applicants who have not successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or equivalent are ineligible to apply for this course. This course uses the ATAR as part of its selection considerations.

All applicants

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
