Charles Sturt University’s Bachelor of Laws is an online, three-year, internationally unique undergraduate law degree. Along with teaching the traditional law curriculum, our course uniquely incorporates Australian First Nations content, embeds cultural competence, and offers a range of specialised regional law topics. By obtaining a Bachelor of Laws, you are opening yourself to endless career opportunities – from government and non-government organisations and private enterprises to furthering your studies to become a solicitor or barrister.
Charles Sturt offers flexible learning in a supported online environment, giving you the opportunity to fit study around your life. You can choose to study just one subject a session or fast-track completion by studying up to four subjects a session - learning using technologies such as online meetings, webinars and student forums. Most core subjects include an online intensive school, giving you the opportunity to interact with lecturers and classmates, prepare for assessments, and learn from lawyers, barristers and judges.
As well as studying all major areas of law, you'll choose from a range of electives, including technology law, family law and succession law. Subjects relevant to rural and regional Australia will also equip you with the legal knowledge relating to the agricultural and mining industries, environmental and cultural heritage protection laws.
Our staff are highly qualified and experienced legal practitioners, researchers and criminal justice professionals. Many are nationally and internationally recognised for their contributions to their respective fields.
Our law degree creates change-makers: skilled professionals who work at the heart of their communities, driving advocacy and improving access to legal representation across the country.
We work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander academics, lawyers, community organisations and Elders to maintain a curriculum that allows students to work effectively with people of different cultural backgrounds to understand the role of law and justice policy in its historical context and its contemporary legacy.
