About

Psychology and counselling complement and overlap each other in theoretical and practical knowledge. This double major combines the strengths of each discipline, providing benefits to graduates in knowledge and career outcomes as they will have further study and/or employment options related to both psychology and counselling.

Students must complete 24 units of study consisting of 10 core psychology units, 11 core counselling units and 3 multidisciplinary units. Depending on grades, a graduate may be eligible to enter fourth-year psychology programs such as the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Hons). To become a registered psychologist, a fourth year of study is essential. Graduates may also apply for postgraduate degrees offered by the disciplines of Counselling and Social Work, such as the Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and Master of Social Work (Qualifying).
