ACU online engagements

To keep you and your students informed during the current pandemic, ACU is offering virtual school engagements. They can present on several online platforms and focus on a range of topics. Online engagements are a good way for students to hear from one of ACU’s knowledgeable staff and provides them the opportunity to have questions answered. ACU can provide a presentation or workshop on preferred topic areas or offer one-on-one consultations.

ACU Blacktown

ACU is delighted to announce that students will be able to study at their new Blacktown Campus from Semester 1, 2021. ACU Blacktown will offer a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and pathways courses.

Griffith University

Important changes for UAC applicants

The following programs will not be offered via UAC in 2021:

• Bachelor of Dental Health Science
• Bachelor of Medical Science
• Bachelor of Paramedicine
• Bachelor of Physiotherapy.

GUESTS online applications now open

The Griffith University Early Start to Tertiary Studies (GUESTS) program is an excellent opportunity for motivated Year 11 and 12 students to study a single course at Griffith University while completing your high school studies. Applications are now open for online courses available in Trimester 2, 2020.

On successful completion of the GUESTS program you will receive two adjustments towards your ATAR when applying for a Griffith University degree and you may be eligible for credit transfer once you commence your related degree. Read more.

Macquarie University

Macquarie University has announced that any applicant who meets the criteria for their Early Entry Schemes, which offer students a place at Macquarie based on their Year 11 results, will be made an offer to study at Macquarie in 2021.

There will be no cap on the number of students at the university level who will be admitted through these schemes to support students concerned about impacts to their study and ATAR results from the COVID-19 Pandemic. Caps will only exist at course level when there are government, legal, or other logistical restraints (clinical placements etc).

For the first time, Macquarie is also announcing the removal of exemptions to courses available through its two early entry schemes – the Schools Recommendation Scheme (Open now) and Leaders and Achievers Early Entry Schemes (Open June 1).

New degrees available through the schemes:

• Leaders and Achievers
  • Bachelor of Clinical Science
  • All undergraduate degrees apart from the Co-op programs will now be available through the Macquarie Leaders and Achievers Entry Scheme
• Schools Recommendation Scheme
  • Bachelor of Clinical Science
  • Bachelor of Actuarial Studies
  • Bachelor of Actuarial Studies double degrees
  • Bachelor of Marketing and Media
  • All courses now available through SRS except Co-op programs

SAE Creative Media Institute

Discover SAE virtual open day

SAE Creative Media Institute is hosting Virtual Open Day. Attendees can view exclusive behind the scenes tours, campus videos, student showreels and explore SAE360 – an interactive campus experience. UC has created a new digital events platform with a range of webinars and online engagement activities to keep careers advisors and their students engaged with UC. This platform will be up and running in May and can be accessed through the careers advisers portal on the UC website. The schedule below outlines upcoming webinars for the month of May. Send the registration links to your colleagues and students.

• University Solutions for 2020 Year 12 Students: Wednesday 6 May, 11am–12pm. A webinar dedicated to Year 12 students who are concerned about the impact of COVID-19. Considerations such as SRS, alternative entry and adjustment factors will be explored to inform student of their options.
• Starting Term off Strong by Applying to UAC: Thursday 7 May, 4pm–4.30pm. Start Term 2 strong by applying to UAC. This live webinar will provide students a step-by-step guide on the UAC application process.
• Tuesday 19 May, 11am–12pm. A webinar dedicated to Year 12 students who are concerned about the impact of COVID-19. Considerations such as SRS, alternative entry and adjustment factors will be explored to inform student of their options.

Course requirement updates

Faculty of Education

Students who wish to apply to an undergraduate Education degree will now be required to submit additional criteria as part of their application. All applicants will be required to complete a written statement in response to questions designed to assess their suitability for the teaching profession. Applicants' responses to these questions must be deemed satisfactory for them to be admitted to this course. This is to be uploaded in PDF format to your application. Faculty of Health

English proficiency requirements have increased for Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced) and Bachelor of Midwifery courses due to changes made by the Nursing and Midwifery board. Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Board Students who wish to apply to Nursing and Midwifery courses will now be required to show they meet the primary language requirements. UNSW

UNSW’s new early conditional offer pathway opens for applications in July. Domestic Year 12 students from eligible UNSW Gateway schools are invited to participate in the digital HSC enrichment program, Winter Gateway, and be supported in applying for the new UNSW Gateway admission pathway. Successful applicants will be made a conditional offer to their preferred UNSW degree in August, with firm offers released in December. Read the list of eligible schools, and further information.

University of Sydney

Early offer Year 12 (E12) scheme

The University of Sydney has extended the eligibility criteria of the Early Offer Year 12 (E12) Scheme to include NSW rural and regional students. E12 shifts the focus from ATAR alone and provides eligible students the opportunity to tell the university more about themselves.

To be eligible to apply for E12 students need to be assessed by UAC’s Education Access Scheme as:

• attending a NSW rural or regional school (UAC EAS codes SO1R or SO1C)
• experiencing financial hardship (UAC EAS codes FO1A, B, C or D)
• residing in an area identified by the Australian Bureau of Statistics as the lowest 25 per cent of socio-economic disadvantage in Australia.

Applications for E12 are open now via UAC’s Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS). For more information on eligibility and how to apply, please visit the University of Sydney website.
