CHANGES TO INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE

You may have seen recent media reports about upcoming changes to the International Baccalaureate (IB) schedule.

Tertiary Admission Centres around Australia are working on a fairer schedule to be implemented for 2022 admissions. The new schedule will enable more finely grained conversion of IB scores to ATAR ranks.

More details will be provided to IB schools, students and parents in the coming months.

ALL 2020 COURSES ONLINE IN AUGUST

If you’re planning to study an undergraduate course in 2020, all courses from participating institutions will be listed on UAC’s website from early August. If you’ve already applied and put in courses as placeholders make sure you log back in to your application and update your preferences at this time.

If you haven’t applied yet, early bird applications close at midnight on Monday 30 September so this is also a good time to get your application in before the processing charge increases.

ACCESS AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

A reminder that Schools Recommendation Schemes, Educational Access Schemes and Equity Scholarships are all open for applications.

These programs have opened earlier this year so schools have more time to help students with their supporting documentation like records of attendance, educational impact statements and student ratings (for SRS).

It also gives students more time to fill out their applicant statement, obtain supporting documentation like medical impact statements and Centrelink information, all before the pressure of final exams.

If you’ve already applied for EAS, don’t forget your supporting documentation. Your EAS application won’t be considered until UAC has received all of your paperwork.

You can check what documents you need to supply on UAC's website.

HELP FOR YEAR 10 STUDENTS

UAC has launched a new online tool to help Year 10 students select their HSC courses.

Subject Compass suggests relevant HSC subjects based on a student’s interests, skills, personality traits, intended career path or tertiary study plans.

Find out more about Subject Compass.

OPEN DAYS

Uni open days are a great way for you to get a feel for a campus, explore student facilities and talk to current students and staff.
