Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) requirements

Applicants for initial teacher education courses through UAC are now able to complete their personal statement as part of the application process.

The personal statement requirement is in line with the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) recommendation that universities select initial teacher education course applicants who have the academic capabilities and personal qualities that will enable them to successfully graduate as classroom-ready teachers.

If your students have applied for a teaching course they’ll be prompted to answer four questions outlining their motivation and suitability for teaching.
