About

Do you want to be a skilled and caring midwife with the expertise to support women and their families during pregnancy, birth and beyond?

This course offers theory and clinical practice experience that develops skills to provide woman-centred midwifery care. Midwifery care involves hands-on activities, which may include physical observation and touch.

Prospective students should be aware that full disclosure of any issues of impairment or misconduct is a requirement when applying for midwifery registration.

Deferment for this course is not available.

All applicants will be required to declare how they meet the English language proficiency requirement or complete an English language test with an IELTS proficiency of 7.0 overall and in all bands (or equivalent) prior to being made an offer. Applicants are advised to check the English language proficiency requirements on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia website.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) has a register of students enrolled in the Bachelor of Midwifery for the duration of their study. WSU as the education provider will provide your details directly to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) for registration.

Over the three years of the course students will also work in partnership with a number of women (and their families) during their pregnancy, labour and birth and the early post-birth weeks, learning to provide effective woman-centred care.
