Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Advanced Studies

The combined Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Advanced Studies allows you to combine the study of economics with your choice of a broad range of subject areas, including business, STEM, the humanities, and social sciences. In the final year, you will undertake advanced coursework and a substantial real-world industry, community, entrepreneurship, or research project.

Areas of study

You will complete a program in Economics, including a core major from 513225 Bachelor of Economics Table A and a second major other than Economic Policy and electives from Table A or Table S. You will also undertake advanced coursework and a community or industry project. High-achieving students will have the opportunity to complete advanced coursework and a substantial project.

Career opportunities

Economics graduates can be found in a broad range of roles, including adviser, analyst, consultant, forecaster, and researcher. Many graduates work for private-sector employers, especially consulting firms and the financial sector, while others are employed in policy-making departments at all levels of government. Graduates of the Bachelor of Economics can be found as leaders in industry and government.

Professional recognition

Provided you have a sequence of units including accounting, finance and commercial law, you may be eligible for professional accreditation with CPA Australia, and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Depending on units selected, professional recognition is also available from the Australian Human Resources Institute.
