About

Learn to analyse information, forecast results and understand the theoretical foundations of computation when you study mathematics and computer science at UOW. You will study how the practical application of mathematics and computer science can be applied in diverse fields such as economics, finance, medicine and industrial manufacturing. You will learn how to help governments and businesses understand the factors behind important decisions using your knowledge across mathematical and statistical models.

Discover the tools that government and businesses use to understand the factors behind important decisions and how to use technology to better understand and help solve the biggest issues facing our natural world. On completion of this double degree, you will be able to address these challenges and more as you enter in-demand roles with highly transferrable skills in computation, problem-solving, data analysis, mathematical modelling and more.

You will benefit from enquiry-based learning that teaches you to constantly seek out knowledge, analyse it, and apply it in your chosen profession. As part of your computer science studies, you will build skills and knowledge to meet the needs of tomorrow's employers as you participate in practical classes in our purpose-built facilities, including networking and hacking labs.

You will learn core fundamentals across practical and theoretical subjects in the first year of your degree before deciding which majors and electives to focus on from the second year. Throughout this double degree, you will gain hands-on experience, make meaningful professional connections, and be given the opportunity to pursue corporate scholarships, summer scholarships, and undergraduate research projects with academic staff.

ATAR profile

ATAR-based offers only (semester 1, 2023)

Use all ATAR profile data as a guide only; it provides a broad overview of the ATARs and selection ranks of previous Year 12 students admitted into that course. ATARs and selection ranks required for entry in 2024 may be different. If you are unsure about including a course among your preferences, contact the relevant institution.

  1. This ATAR profile table is in line with Commonwealth Government transparency requirements. It is based on offers to recent school leavers (ie completed Year 12 in the last 2 years) who were selected solely or partly on their ATAR. Note that some institutions further differentiate this information on their websites.
  2. The ATAR values exclude any adjustment factors.
  3. The selection ranks include the ATAR and any adjustment factors.

Abbreviations
