About

Analyse and interpret economic theories and critical commercial information as you learn to engage your audience with well-crafted stories when you study business and journalism at UOW. By combining a Bachelor of Journalism with a Bachelor of Business, you will learn to present information and develop compelling, business-based news stories to a range of different audiences. Through practice-based subjects and your own research, you will gain a broader understanding of the world through a commercial lens.

How does modern journalism embrace and leverage converging media? How can engaging storytelling support businesses to thrive? On completion of this double degree, you will be able to answer these questions and more as you enter careers within large or small corporate and media organisations.

You'll benefit by learning from recognised and passionate leaders in their fields. You will learn core fundamentals across practical and theoretical subjects in the first year of your double degree before deciding which major disciplines and minor subject areas to focus on from the second year.

You'll be immersed in practical, hands-on learning as part of the UOWTV Multimedia student newsroom, and produce coverage for its website, YouTube channel and social media platforms. You will have real deadlines and will engage with the community and industry as you explore and innovate within journalism’s changing environment, including podcasting, data journalism and immersive video.

Throughout this double degree, you will gain hands-on experience, make meaningful professional connections and gain real-world experience through the opportunity to participate in the Business Internship program.
