About

SAE has a range of approaches to learning and teaching that can be activated to provide flexibility in the face of changing circumstances as required, to support student progression regardless of external factors.

SAE Games graduates have been involved with many outstanding creative media companies, including Ubisoft, Gameloft, Halfbrick, LAI Games, Krome, Sega Studios Australia, THQ, 100% Indie, Two Bulls, Appster, Current Circus, TrickStar Games, Gentrack, Torus Games, Serious Games Institute, Firemonkeys and the Australian Institute of Mining and Construction.

The Diploma of Game Development at SAE will help you gain the skills to stand out in the exciting and expanding industry of gaming. In a matter of months, you’ll learn the key fundamentals of game development.
In preparation for an industry that commands agility and adaptability, you’ll cut your creative teeth on projects in partnership with your course peers.

You’ll work in a team to pitch, design, plan and deliver a game in response to a brief. Your project will extend your design and scripting skills sets, to allow you to craft a broader range of gameplay systems and features.

Practical experience

SAE offers hands on, practical and project based education – it’s what makes us unique. We recognised this back in 1976 and that’s why we pioneered our hands-on, industry focused, and personalised curriculum. You will truly sharpen your skills by doing, not watching. From day one, you’ll be in small classes, using the latest equipment. The more prac work the better – that’s our theory. Upon completion, you will have built a portfolio of work to share with potential employers or first clients.

Fees and charges

SAE offers a range of options to help students fund their studies. Current SAE fee information.

ATAR profile

ATAR-based offers only (semester 1, 2023)

Use all ATAR profile data as a guide only; it provides a broad overview of the ATARs and selection ranks of previous Year 12 students admitted into that course. ATARs and selection ranks required for entry in 2024 may be different. If you are unsure about including a course among your preferences, contact the relevant institution.

  1. This ATAR profile table is in line with Commonwealth Government transparency requirements. It is based on offers to recent school leavers (ie completed Year 12 in the last 2 years) who were selected solely or partly on their ATAR. Note that some institutions further differentiate this information on their websites.
  2. The ATAR values exclude any adjustment factors.
