About

Charles Sturt University’s Bachelor of Technology (Civil) / Master of Engineering (Civil) has been developed in consultation with industry leaders, to meet the growing demand for civil engineers. This double degree builds engineering expertise over five and a half years through real-world problem-based learning, including four years of PAID cadetships, the opportunity to develop industry connections, no exams and 25 $20,000 scholarships on offer.

Our Bachelor of Technology (Civil) / Master of Engineering (Civil) offers one of Australia's only undergraduate-entry master's-level engineering courses. This unique engineering course is designed to empower you to graduate with the knowledge and skills to make a difference in the world. This is backed by our emphasis on practical learning, so you'll put theory into practice throughout your civil engineering course, and graduate ready to pursue your career in civil engineering immediately.

Did you know? On average, students in our combined Bachelor/Masters program will earn over $200,000 on placements before they graduate. We have the only engineering course where four years of year-long paid work placements count towards your uni subjects. These paid, hands-on experiences give you a head start in your career – you’ll graduate sooner, with loads of paid experience and your own industry connections.

Our engineering team are practicing engineers with industry connections, meaning we work closely with industry to ensure our graduates have the skills to get the job done, and our engineering graduates really make a difference when they move into the workforce. They are part of a strong engineering community of academics, industry representatives and a student body that is diverse and supportive.

Our innovative curriculum gives you the flexibility to study what you need, when you need it. You can customise your degree by choosing from more than 1,000 subjects within our unique Topic Tree, each of which are bite-size pieces of study. Our courses have no exams because each topic contains mini-assessments. The topics build on each other to extend your learning.

Incorporating the latest technology, Charles Sturt University's award-winning engineering facilities include a collaborative learning zone, maker studios, project spaces, workshops, a gallery and a 'pitch zone' for fine-tuning entrepreneurial skills.

Plus, we have 25 scholarships each worth $20,000 on offer in 2025, thanks to our Transgrid Civil Engineering Scholarship.
