About

This course provides the perfect career foundation for students who enjoy building and planning, drawing and design. You will learn from an experienced teaching team and develop skills in planning and designing residential homes and commercial buildings.  You will build an understanding of construction structures, building materials and services, sustainability, professional practice and communication.

This course prepares you for a career as a building designer. Building designers provide design solutions for residential and commercial buildings and work for design, architecture, planning, building or engineering firms, government departments, and corporations with a large building portfolio. Successful completion of this course satisfies the educational requirements for the Building Design - Open Licence issued by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).
