The Bachelor of Music - Composition is for students seeking a career as a composer in the modern music and entertainment industries. You will gain practical experience composing for diverse fields including music, film, television and gaming. You will study musical innovation, song arrangement, creative communication and music for mixed media. Foundational knowledge in composition and music production techniques will inform the original songs, arrangements, orchestrations, soundtracks and multimedia installations you will complete as part of your portfolio.
You will also collaborate regularly with students across our Bachelor of Music courses on practical, hands-on projects, giving you complementary skills in creative audio technologies, performance or the business of music. You will develop the originality, musical literacy and technical proficiency you need to succeed in music composition.

Applicants who are 21 years of age or older at the time of application are entitled to mature-age consideration.
Mature-age applicants may obtain entry by performing to a satisfactory level in an audition and/or digital portfolio and/or interview.
For applicants who do not meet the above criteria, admission may be granted by the Director of Academic Affairs or nominee based on a documented assessment of the applicant's overall ability to undertake the program of study and to achieve the course learning outcomes.

Applications can be submitted up to 12 months prior to your chosen start date, which means that you can complete the application process at a time that works for you.
Current Year 12 students can submit their application and potentially receive a Conditional Offer to study with AIM before their Year 12 exams. Conditional Offers require the student to provide evidence of successful completion of HSC Year 12 (or equivalent) as stated in the Admission Criteria upon receiving their results at the end of the year.
