The Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), located at Sydney Olympic Park, is a not-for-profit company owned by NSW and ACT Universities. UAC is a leader in the Higher Education Sector and provides a range of services to universities, schools, students, parents and the general public.
UAC is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Company Secretary to perform the duties and responsibilities required by law and by UAC’s Articles of Association. The position will be expected to provide the UAC Board with best practice advice on its regulatory and governance obligations and its fiduciary responsibilities. Applicants should be familiar with the Corporations Act and the particular issues faced by not-for-profit boards.
The position will appeal to those who have a belief in the transformative nature of education for the individual and for society as a whole.
At UAC the Company Secretary is supported administratively by professional staff from the Managing Director’s Unit and the People and Finance Department. The Company Secretary reports to the UAC Board, which meets up to five times per year and is currently made up of non-executive directors drawn from the university sector and the private sector. The Managing Director is the only executive director on the Board.
The initial appointment is for a period of two years with opportunity for renewal.
An annual allowance would be paid to the successful candidate and UAC will also meet out-of-pocket expenses associated with meeting attendance.
